Rafael Nadal, Honored as Manacor's "Favorite Son"



Rafael Nadal is honored in his hometown of Manacor on the island of Majorca by being named as the city's "favorite son". The City Council, headed by Francina Armengol, acknowledges Nadal for his accomplishments most especially this year. The 2010 season is so far the best season for the Spaniard having completed his own "Grand Slam" and the 7th man to achieve the rare feat.

Rafael Nadal is now favorite son of the town of Manacor, the world’s number 1 has been serious during the ceremony, when it is time to speak, was brief but clear, “when we are around the world first thing I think about losing or winning is to return as soon as possible to Manacor, “concluded the Spaniard.
