Serena Williams Joins The List of Wimbledon 2013 Casualties

Based on her impressive wins in the previous rounds, Serena Williams looks to hold her sixth Venus Rosewater Dish at All England Club this weekend. But the 23rd seeded Sabine Lisicki has a different plan in mind. Known as a French Open Champion slayer having defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova in 2009, Na Li in 2011, and Maria Sharapova last year in this tournament. The crowd never expected that she will be adding Serena in the list.

Both players are known for their big serves but it was Sabine Lisicki who was fired up and took the first set 6-2. However, Serena Williams, known for her aggressive and competitive mentality avenges her first set defeat and turn the tides with a relatively easy 6-1 win in the second set. It looks though that Williams was on her way to the quarter-finals after leading the third set 3-0. But Lisicki fought hard and found some extra reserves from her bag and eventually reached her first match point. Serena saved the point but Lisicki could not be denied. On her second match point, she unleashed a big forehand cross court winner that Serena could not reach. She then finished the match 6-4 and fell to her knees as she celebrated her victory against the defending champion.
